Blog Two

The teacher centered and student centered teaching would be a great philosophy if combined together minus the teacher being the focus. I don’t believe the teacher should be the focus but I think the teacher should be able to use scores to see where more help and tutorial is needed for all students. The teacher’s role is to be a motivator, instiller of knowledge, and a guide.

The teacher is a motivator because they push the students to overcome obstacles, and be the best they can be. Their main goal and duty is to instill knowledge not only from books but also wisdom that can be taught through life testimonies. Students look to teachers for guidance. They want assurance and security that they have someone to talk to and trust. The student should always be the focus because that is who the teachers are here for.

My philosophy will be influenced greatly by the student centered learning and knowledge centered learning. Objectives I would include from the student centered learning area are problem solving, asking questions, and essential skills through exploration and discovery. Student centered learning is very beneficial to the student. I believe learning and comprehension really takes place during this centered learning. Knowledge centered learning involves new information that should make sense to the students and learners are expectant to ask questions if they don’t understand. This is how I want my classroom to be I want my students to be able to display to me that they have one hundred percent comprehend what they are performing.

My classroom will provide a variety of objects that will assist in my lessons. The type of teaching in the classroom will be fun and different. We will explore new things and keep the students active so they can’t become bored. Technology is something great that children like to explore and use. My class will be a loving environment that provides nourishment and assistance. The students should feel that they are part of a strong foundation that is empowering and courteous. They should feel free and be open to ask questions when needed and be independent when necessary. Technology will play a big part in my classroom because we will explore smart boards, computers, and different advances of new technology.

  2. I believe that when it comes to the children the teacher is not the focus. It is all about teaching the children and helping them to understand what you are teaching. Yes, I agree with you life lessons are the best way to learn sometimes. It is not always about what is in the book but sometine it is about how we are teaching the material to the children so that they can enjoy it and want to learn.
