A learner- centered instruction should contain beliefs, interests, skills, attitudes, and knowledge so that this ways may be uncovered. The way a student thinks can be based upon the information already in their mind state or train of thought. This includes cultural and social traditions and experiences. If the student thinking is displayed it helps the instructor understand the students misunderstanding and correct them. The classroom should also present students with challenges, questions for them to explain, and the opportunity to solicit ate their ideas and thoughts.
A knowledge centered instruction should contain new knowledge being announced (concepts, facts, principles, and ideas). It should help students not only memorize but also comprehend while providing vigorous material. This environment involves new information that should make sense and learners are expectant to ask questions if they don’t understand. Metacognitive skills are developed in this instruction that assist students to learn more about their own learning.
Formative Assessment and Summative Assessment are the two types of assessment that should be included in assessment-centered instruction. A formative assessment environment is designed to provide feedback about performances and preconceptions to both instructors and learners. Formative assessment measure the learning pain in order to applaud revision and reflection. Summative Assessment on the other hand measures the results of learning. This assessment is a gathering of data that includes quality control and legitimizes credentials. Formative assessment is seen as a part of the journey where as Summative is the outcome or results reflected in the end.
Community centeredness is important to student learning because the fostering significant norms and values take place that benefit lifelong learning. This is also the environment that involves an instructor who tries to gain the students cooperation. This causes active participant in this classroom.
One on one time is the main community centered activity I have used in the past. One on one time involves the teacher/instructor and the student. This may take place during class or after class. One on one time is community-centered because it allows an opportunity for the student to ask questions about what they may not understand. Meanwhile the instructor is also given the chance to explain and break things down to the student on a understandable level. The instructor may use activities, props, demonstration, and hand on hand projects.
The community centered learning environment would make a great impact on evaluating my own instruction. Students should always comprehend the activities they are performing. They should also feel confident and the motive that the sky is the limit, you can achieve anything when you put your mind to it. I will have to work on my student’s becoming self-evaluative and less dependent on others. I believe my students can become self-evaluative if I don’t include group projects as much. Once I have assessed these skills I can build upon them and progress to the best outcome possible. The children will have a better overall structure.
